The Sea Fair is an annual festival held in September in the city of Bocas del Toro on Colón Island, specifically on the stretch of land between Istmito Beach and the road that leads to Boca del Drago Beach.
The celebration of this colorful seafront fair goes back to 1962. The festival is famous for its long tradition of showcasing the idiosyncrasies, customs, and way of life of Bocas del Toro native peoples.
Among the attractions found at the Sea Fair are the sale of traditional dishes, usually with seafood and fish, juices and refreshments, handicrafts, jewelry, and leather products. Various government agencies also participate and staff exhibition booths.
There are also performances by musical and artistic folk groups, who give a complete representation of the dances that are traditional to the province of Bocas del Toro, such as a local version of square dances and the May Pole dance.
Another fair attraction is the series of competitions out on the water. There will be motorboat and rowing boat races for both males and female categories, in addition to a fishing tournament.
We invite you to visit the Sea Fair, characteristic of the Caribbean region of our country and a proud demonstration of the Bocas del Toro traditions.
