The Barqueta Beach

It is a very well-known beach on the Panamanian Pacific, about 25 minutes southwest of the city of David and 35 minutes east of the Costa Rican border. La Barqueta Beach combines all the beauty and adventure of a long white-sand beach, with the convenience of staying at a resort or in the nearby city of David. La Barqueta Beach is surrounded by areas with high biodiversity and is commonly a turtle nesting area. In 1986 an Alanje Environmental Committee was formed, and along with residents in Guarumal they implemented some protection programs.

In 1994 a portion of this coastal area was designated to be La Barqueta Beach Wildlife Refuge, covering 5,935 hectares. Among the landscapes of grasslands and bush savannah forests, the thick mangroves stand out, which reproduce part of the ecological wealth that sustains the fishing villages of the Chiriquí Pacific.

Location:

La Barqueta Beach is located 25 minutes from the international airport of David, Panama.

How to arrive?

Car:From Panama City take the Interamerican Highway for about 450 km (approximately 6 hours of travel time) until you reach David - Chiriquí.
