Bird Watching

Bird watchers know to seek out the mountains of the province of Chiriqui. From the Friendship International Park to the forests in Boquete and Volcán, there are plenty of places to visit and participate in active tourism activities.

More than 220 species of animals can be spotted in the Barú Volcano National Park, including the Resplendent Quetzal. Special guided tours are offered to bird watchers and those interested in the Quetzal, an emblematic bird. You can also go hiking on the Trail of the Quetzals.

Another of the best sites in Panama and the whole world to go birding is the famous trail called the Pipeline Road (Camino del Oleoducto). The path passes through the rainforest in Sovereignty National Park ( Parque Nacional Soberanía) and offers excellent conditions for nature lovers. It is well-maintained and can be used to go walking or mountain biking.
