Ancón Hill is the highest spot in Panama City, reaching an altitude of 199 meters. It is named after the first boat that crossed the Panama Canal, the "Ancón" steamer. From atop Ancón Hill you can appreciate a lovely view of Panama City, the Bridge of the Americas, the Miraflores Locks and the Panama Canal.

Ancón Hill serves as the planning point for the construction of the Panama Canal. Its summit overlooks the Old Town of Panama, hotels and the causeway, among other sites.

It is declared a "Protected Area and Nature Reserve in Panama" and "National Historical Heritage in Panama." You can climb up to the summit on foot or drive in car. Ancón Hill is located next to the Panama Canal and the Panama flag waves from its highest point.

How to arrive

Car: Take the Avenue of the Martyrs towards the Bridge of the Americas, and to the right is the entrance to Ancón Hill, next to Mi Pueblito.
