Panama wins second place

Maricelys González, the Miss Panama for Miss World 2012, won second place in the Miss Americas pageant last Saturday night in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Camila Serakides from Brazil, who has a crown tattooed on her left hand, was chosen as queen of the continent at the Crystal Palace in Guayaquil. Serakides is 23 years old and studies Computer Science.

Josefina Herrero, the 17 year old representative from Argentina, came in third place.

In addition to the crown, which is worth $15,000 and was made by the Ecuadorian designer Daniella Kronfle, the Brazilian was awarded a tour to the Galapagos Islands, an 18 carat gold necklace and $5,000 dollars in cash.
