As part of the national government's commitment to promoting economic and tourism development in the country, President Ricardo Martinelli attended on Wednesday, November 21 the presentation of the Soho Panama project that is comprised of a commercial, business, shopping and entertainment complex that will generate 3,000 direct jobs during the construction phase and 2,500 more once it opens, between 2013 and 2014.
“This is the largest private project built in our country thus far. Along with all of the projects promoted at the government level, such as the construction of airports, the metro and reorganization of roadways, this project will strengthen the image of Panama as a prominent and important tourist and shopping destination,” commented the President at the launch of the project.
Martinelli emphasized that Panama is becoming a hub of connectivity, and that the construction of major projects, which position Panama and create new jobs, are promising for the country's future.
According to its promoters, Soho Panama, with a financial operations center, shops, residences and the first Ritz Carlton hotel in Central America and the second in Latin America, will become a new icon of Panama.
