Passengers awaiting a connecting flight explore the city

Over the first 10 months of the year there was a 48% increase in the number of 'day visitors', those tourists who stay in the country for less than 24 hours.

Most of them are passengers who decide to leave Tocumen International Airport to visit areas of the capital city while waiting for their flight connection.

Tour operators indicate that these are people who come with a pre-arranged agenda to tour the city. Shopping malls are a popular stop-over point, which in recent years have begun to sell their tours online.

From January to October, there were 119,054 tourists who made one-day long visits to the country.
