Airlines interested in Chiriquí terminal

Two international cargo airlines are interested in using the new facilities at the Enrique Malek International Airport, whose runway and renovations were built at a cost of $27.4 million, once it is inaugurated this January 19.

Rafael Bárcenas, director of the Civil Aviation Authority, said that until there is an increase in passenger and cargo traffic, they will not expand the existing staff. He confirmed that they have already received bids from two international cargo airlines who are looking to land here to transport their merchandise to the United States. Furthermore, he has already held talks with other passenger airlines, which are awaiting the airport's opening.

On Sunday the 20th, starting at 9:00 a.m., the new airport will celebrate with a Chiriquí Air Festival 2013, featuring performances by four expert U.S. aerobatic pilots.
