According to the airline's CEO, Pedro Heilbron, “in 2013 we are continuing a steady expansion, consolidating the Hub of the Americas as the most successful and efficient center of connections for trips to, from and within Latin America.”
Heilbron added that “the implementation of this strategy for growth will allow us to broaden our platform of services and continue connecting our passengers with a wider selection of flights and destinations, offering unbeatable connectivity in the region, a punctuality on par with the best global airlines and world-class service.” According to company figures, their growth initiatives will continue to positively impact the local economy, as shown by their plans to hire more than 400 new employees in Panama this year.
In this way, Copa intends to strengthen the crucial contribution of the aviation industry to the country's economic and social development, which translates to approximately 39,000 direct and indirect positions of employment and approximately 4% of the nation's gross domestic product (GDP).
