Lufthansa could start flying to Panama

Lufthansa might be evaluating the possibility of establishing a direct flight to Panama. The airline recently appointed a sales manager for the Panamanian market, and so the connections from the Tocumen airport hub to European destinations and those currently offered from countries like Colombia, Venezuela and Mexico, are expected to be promoted.

Lufthansa has also stated its intentions for 2013 with the establishment of a shared code agreement with the company Copa Airlines.

Wolfgang Will, the CEO of Lufthansa in Mexico and Central America, told the local press that Panama's sustained economic growth has brought it into Lufthansa's radar. Last year 140,000 European tourists entered Panama, an 8% annual increase. Will continued, “Latin America is emerging as one of the major markets for passengers flights, and therefore the company plans to increase its flights from Europe to the region.”
