Book Fair around the bend

The 9th International Book Fair of Panama will take place from August 21st to 25th, presenting an extensive agenda of cultural activities and book readings. The fair event will be held at the Atlapa Convention Center.

Scheduled activities

The Cultural Program of the 9th International Book Fair of Panama announces that the concert "Gloria in Excelsis Deo", a choral performance of sacred music by the Panama Opera Foundation and with a string orchestra, will be given on Friday, August 23rd at the Anayansi Theater at 7:30 p.m.

The internationally renowned soprano Elizabeth Bice Cavalli and the mezzo-soprano Irena Sylya, accompanied by the orchestra conducted by the Italian Elio Orciuolo, who was the guest director invited to conduct the orchestra at La Sala Nervi of the Vatican in Rome, will breathe life into the liturgical compositions from the 17th to 21st century.

Anthropology invades literature

The acclaimed anthropologist Carlos Granés Maya, a student of human behavior, will speak at the 9th International Book Fair of Panama.

Granés unanimously won the Isabel Polanco International Essay Prize for his essay "The Invisible Fist".

In "The Invisible Fist", the author defends the thesis that even though the great political revolutions of the past century failed, the accompanying cultural revolution, which was only meant to fulfill a secondary role or of symbolic legitimation, indeed triumphed.
