Signposting started on tourist spots

The program will make it easier for tourists, to locate the different points of interest

With an initial investment of $70,000 USD, the program for the installation of 138 signposts, is executed in several tourist destinations in the country.

By doing so, the “Autoridad de Turismo de Panama” (ATP) started the placement of 14 signposts in several tourist destinations at “El Valle de Anton” (Anton Valley), with an initial investment of $6,300 USD.

The signposts include international symbols that will help tourists move along the different points of interest and attractions for that destination.

Personnel from the ATP Planning Office gathered together with members of the Camara de Turismo de El Valle (El Valle Tourism Chamber) to identify the placement locations for these signs, in order to achieve the best results based on the effort of the National Signposting Program.

The program includes 138 signs in routes like Sabanita – San Lorenzo in Colon, Panamerican way – Mariato in Veraguas; Panamerican – Boquete and Panamerican – La Barqueta beach, the latter two are located in the province of Chiriqui.

According to Salo Shamah, General Manager of the ATP, the touristic signposts are very important elements for the complete development of the country’s interior destinations. ‘We want the tourism to be equally distributed through the whole country; the signposts will help us achieve that’.

The Master Plan of Tourism considers an investment of $5.7 millions in works throughout the nation, like the construction of sidewalks, information booths and tourist help centers.
