12 plastic surgeries are estimated to be performed in Chiriquí, which represents an approximate 48 plastic surgeries per month.

There are only two plastic and cosmetic surgeons in Chiriquí: Dr. Roger Montero and Dr. Paúl Alegría.

However, Dr. Roberto Tribaldo also helps out and travels from Panama City to this province to perform plastic surgeries.

These surgeons utilize two private clinics located in David to operate their patients. They rent operating rooms and recovery rooms only, as they have their own staff for the care of patients.

Kalizol de Nash, who works as the assistant of Dr. Paúl Alegría (Reconstructive Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon), stated that the foreign clients residing in Boquete travel from the United States to undergo surgery intervention only, and then they return to their country.

Among the Panamanian and Latin American people, women habitually perform more changes in their aesthetic appearance than men do. However, among the Americans, both women and men maintain similar levels in regard to this type of surgeries. Nash also stated that the foreign clients are more concerned about excess weight and congenital deformities.

Preferences

For Panamanian women, the most important surgeries are breast and nose lift and liposuction. Approximately 80% of foreign men opt to perform facelift surgery while women opt for breast lift, as they do not really like the silicone. Clients from the United States, Australia, England, Virgin Islands, and New Zealand are currently arriving for these type of surgeries.

Clients learn about these surgeries through people who have previously acquired these surgeries, websites, and conferences conducted by Dr. Alegría in the months of March and November in Mexico.
