Customers from countries such as Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia, and Central America have chosen Panama’s Banking Center to safeguard their funds because of the trust generated by local economy performance.

Savings from foreign clients in the financial system in Panama increased by almost 19% last year, compared to 2010. In November 2011, foreign deposits totaled $24,635,000,000, an increase of 18.78% or $3,895,000 more than in November 2010, when it was $20,740,000,000, according to data from the Superintendency of Banks of Panama (SBP).

 

The organization committee members of the 9th edition Panama Jazz Festival found itself facing a challenge: they had no authorization to perform their traditional open-air concert in the Cathedral’s Plaza, with which they put their final touch on the week of jazz.

Yesterday, the Department of Panamanian Heritage advised those responsible for the jazz festival that they needed to have a meeting in order to coordinate the performance scheduled for January 21st, because there are several projects currently developing around the Plaza using heavy machinery.

The fair will be held from January 12th through January 22th

With a pleasant climate and fresh scent of flowers, the doors of the majestic gardens are ready to welcome people to the Boquete Flower and Coffee Fair in the Province of Chiquirí. Elisa Miranda, President of the Board of the Flower and Coffee Fair, stated that his event is formed by a board of 11 institutions, six governmental and five civil societies, which year after year work collectively to carry out such event.

With the onset of summer, the Province of Chiriquí is preparing to be visited by many foreigners who come together to enjoy the beautiful and picturesque scenery, cool weather, and sunny beaches. Therefore, the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) is currently performing several projects to improve infrastructure in the most visited beaches of this proud province.

One of the upcoming beach projects is the Estero Rico, located in the district of Alanje, whose main propose is to work on the conditioning and improvement of the entrances, pool cabanas, kitchens, among other important details, with an investment of $175,000.

Thousands of people are expected at the Panama City Carnival 2012 to be held in Cinta Costera.

$2.5 million were designated to the carnival’s organizing committee, after Panamanian government gave its approval, with just a moth and 14 days way from these festivities.    

Salomón Shamah, Minister of the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP, Spanish), stated that an influx of 150,000 people is expected in the Cinta Costera for this year. Therefore, security will be as equal as last year’s
