Open Call for Submissions Hayah 2014

The Hayah International Short Film Festival, the only festival in Central America that annually exhibits exclusively the short film format, will be accepting submissions from February 10 to April 30.

The festival will be held in Panama City during the month of August, as a growing showcase for Panamanian and international cinema to be appreciated, promoted, and disseminated.

This year's categories of competition:

- Best Short Fiction

- Best Documentary Short

- Best Animated Short Film

- New Directors Award (national)

- Très Court: very short films, max 3 minutes - Alliance Française (national)

In addition, the call for submissions for PANAMA FILM LAB is open, nurturing audiovisual talent through training and network opportunities. The program is specifically designed to instruct local and foreign filmmakers in the transition from making short films to their first feature-length film.

The lab fulfills the need for a meeting place for first-time producers and directors to bring their projects in development and be advised on completing their feature film.

The second PANAMA FILM LAB will be held in August 2014, as a part of the 8th Hayah International Short Film Festival.

Registration will once again be done entirely online through the festival website and the international system MOVIBETA.

Participants in the short film competition and Panama Film Lab will be competing for a chance at over $8,000 in prizes and opportunities to screen their short film at associated festivals.
