The construction company Norberto Odebrecht has begun working on soil studies to build the South Terminal of the Tocumen International Airport. The Brazilian company was awarded the contract in late 2012 with its bid of $679.4 million dollars, beating out the Asian firm China Harbor Engineering.
The main events of the Boquete Jazz & Blues Festival, which starts tomorrow Thursday, will take place in the Valle Escondido amphitheater. The local Boquete band The Push will give a free concert in Boquete's central square on March 1 at 2:00 p.m. Starting at 4:00 p.m., American harpist Bob Corritore will provide free classes to students from local schools. On Saturday, March 2, from noon until 6:00 p.m., the concerts will be held outdoors in the Valle Escondido amphitheater for festival-goers to be able to also commune with nature.
Tourist agencies in Chiriquí have been asked to prioritize 14 aspects that are key to strengthening this industry. Knowing which tourism projects are present in this province, training the hospitality businesses, providing signage and statistics and improving the security and cleanliness services at Paso Canoas are some of the points to be addressed.
This was the grand agreement reached last July 11th at the meeting that took place at the Cervantes Institute among twenty senior officials of Spanish cultural institutions, presided over by the First Lady of Panama, Marta Linares de Martinelli, the director of the Cervantes Institute, Carmen Caffarel, and the director of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), Francisco Moza.
