Day 1: The Day of Tourism and Tropical Night on the Beach began with an inauguration by the Ambassador of Spain to Panama, Jesús Silva Fernández, who was greeted by the Mayor of Taboga, José Chirú, and a traditional Panamanian drumming and choral singing group. The objective of the Sea Festival is to actively promote programs and events on the island, seeking the development of sustainable tourism on Taboga. The island is highlighted as a treasure to be discovered on the tourist map for regional and international visitors.

The celebration of the 500th anniversary of the discovery of the Pacific Ocean by Vasco Núñez de Balboa, a treasure hunt and mock piracy throughout the town of Taboga, food festival, ceviche contest, tour of the beautiful island of Taboga and an evening concert and dance with CALYPSO music were some of the activities enjoyed on the first day of this grand Sea Festival.
