Panama will be the center of the wrestling ring

From April 5 to 7, our country will host the Pan American Olympic Wrestling Championship, in which 350 wrestlers from 25 countries will compete.

The Vasco Núñez de Balboa hall in the El Panama hotel will serve as the event venue. This athletic event is being organized by the Panamanian Federation of Associated Wrestling and the Panamanian Sports Institute (Pandeportes), with the endorsement of the Pan American Federation and the World Federation.

In its bid to host the event, Panama had to compete against countries like the United States and Colombia. The deciding factors that led to our country being chosen to organize the championship were technology, transportation, communication and services to provide accommodation and meals for the athletes, coaches and delegates who will participate in the three days of competition.

Augusto Batista, president of the Panamanian Wrestling Federation, explained that Olympic-level competitors will be wrestling in this championship, and that Panama will be represented by a delegation of 27 people, among athletes, coaches and delegates.

“The ideals of the sport of wrestling will be seen at its best during this unique opportunity to watch real wrestlers, in a competition where athletes of excellent quality, technique and skill will participate, with admission completely free for Panamanians,” said Batista.
