Young explorers visiting Panama

The 225 members of the BBVA Quetzal Route expedition, which commemorates the 5th Centenary of Vasco Núñez de Balboa's Discovery of the Pacific Ocean in 1513, were greeted yesterday by the First Lady of the Republic, Marta Linares de Martinelli.

After an extensive journey through ​​the jungles of Darién, these enthusiastic youth from 53 countries reached the capital to continue on their fascinating historical adventure towards the South Sea, following the footsteps of the Spaniard Vasco Núñez de Balboa on the 28th year of the Quetzal Route.
