Panama will host American hotel industry annual committee

Panama will host the 2016 Annual Resorts Committee of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), which will be held for the first time outside of North America and the Caribbean, announced the organizers in Panama City.

The Trump Hotel Collection organization stated that their Trump Ocean Club International Hotel & Tower of Panama project, a 70-story oceanfront hotel being built in Panama City's elegant area of Punta Pacífica, will host the AH&LA in September 2016. Trump Ocean is the first international project of the Trump Hotel Collection, which was awarded after a presentation made by the vice president and general manager of Trump Ocean Club Panama, Mark Stevenson, who has also been a member of the Resorts Committee since 2006.

"The AH&LA is comprised of the most famous hotels in North America and the Caribbean," noted Stevenson, adding that he is proud to have the opportunity to host this organization with 76 years of experience and to present Panama as a tourist destination.

The AH&LA Resorts Committee has 62 active members and 40 honorary members. The annual conference will include educational sessions, presentation of ideas and exchange of best business practices, and the opportunity to make business contacts in the hotel sector, explained the organization in a statement.

The AH&LA is the only U.S. association focused on the needs of the lodging industry, whose programs and incentives aim to identify and promote new standards of excellence within the industry.
