Talent reigned in election of the queen

As if in prelude to the Carnival, the Anayansi Theater in the Atlapa Convention Center took on a festive and vibrant ambience with the arrival of eleven beautiful girls for the election of the 2014 Metro City Carnival Queen this past Tuesday.

The event, which was chaired by Carmen Sousa and Rolando Sterling, began with a spectacular opening full of joy and splendor in full Carnival style, under the direction of José Alberto Sousa.

After the contestants paraded in swimsuit and evening gown, the jury of prominent Panamanian social and political figures selected the five finalists.

The interview round was decisive in determining who would reign over the four days of Carnival in the capital.

Maria de Lourdes Gallimore, a 24-year old who had stood out from the start in each round of competition, was in the end declared victorious in this celebration. She will be accompanied by the princesses Jenifer Gleichman, 18 years old, and Ana Lorena Cortés Camacho, 20 years old.

It is noteworthy that they all had excellent stage presence and oratory skills; in addition, it was noted from their biographies that several even spoke more than one language.
