Discover Central America

For the third consecutive year, Avianca and the Central American tourism industry have united to boost tourism in the region with the "Discover Central America" campaign. 

As part of this initiative, approximately USD 225,OOO will be jointly invested in advertising and special products will be made available with up to 40% discounted prices.

Vacation packages will be on sale from today, April 28 until May 15, for travel between May 1st and June 2Oth.

A Central American Rate of $249 (including tax) for travel to and from any destination in the region will be offered from April 28 to May 5 for travel between April 28 and June 20, 2014.

The airline Avianca, tourism ministries of six Central American countries, tourism chambers that are members of SICA (Central American Integration Secretariat), tourism wholesalers, and tourism service providers in the region are collaborating to promote the "Discover Central America" program, with a comprehensive advertising campaign to drive tourism in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama.

Governments and Avianca have jointly invested approximately USD 225,000 in the initiative to promote intra-regional tourism. It includes airfares and vacation packages with up to 40% in discounts, promotional contributions, and a shared advertising campaign.

We firmly believe that we are taking an important action that stimulates tourism and will contribute to the development of one of the most important sectors in the region's economy," said Danilo Correa, commercial director for Avianca in Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

"Our aim is that, in addition to providing an incentive to travelers, both in the short and long term, the public will be more aware of the great tourism options our region offers, complemented by a competitive and updated product," added Correa.

Vacation Packages

The campaign will feature vacation packages that include airfare, lodging, tours, and ground transportation, among other options. The products will be available for purchase from April 28 until May 15, for travel between May 10 and June 20. The proposal is the result of an effective collaboration among the service providers creating a competitive product and developing a suitable marketing strategy. These packages will be sold through travel agents.

Central American Rate

In addition to vacation packages, travelers will have the option of purchasing a flight at the special Central American flat rate of USD 249 (including taxes) for travel to and from any Central American destination. This promotional price will be available from April 28 to May 5, for travel from April 28 to June 20, 2014.

Website and Facebook page to Discover Central America

As part of this campaign, the campaign website was created to display online all the tourist destinations and special packages available. In addition, it has its own Facebook page, Descubriendo Centroamérica, for interested travelers to look up more information or make inquiries or comments.


The airline is making nearly 22,000 seats available for this initiative, which is the joint effort of more than 20 entities, including Ministries of Tourism, Chambers of Tourism, multilateral agencies, and 100 private companies from the five participating Central American countries, including the Avianca airline, hotels, tour operators, and ground operators.
