Panama and Barbados will sign air services agreement

With the aim of continuing to strengthen trade ties with Barbados, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama, Francisco Álvarez De Soto, held a meeting this past April 30th with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Barbados, Maxine McClean, as part of the 6th Summit of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) and to discuss issues of common interest.

Foreign Minister Álvarez De Soto recognized the strategic importance of Panama having a more tight-knit business relationship with Barbados, seeing that in the near future Panama is expected to establish an air services agreement with the Caribbean country.

Panama's intentions were very well received by the diplomat McClean, who welcomed the proposal and scheduled the agreement to be signed in the coming weeks, acknowledging the mutual benefits of closer a relationship that will allow our countries to find new avenues for trade.

Minister Alvarez De Soto took the opportunity to thank the government of Barbados for their recent support in various international arenas, recognizing their commitment with neighboring countries and friends in their initiatives and concern over events that affect the region, and offered Panama's best efforts towards reciprocating this intention.

The ministers also exchanged views on options and initiatives for an economic and commercial integration in the region that would allow tighter-woven supply and production chains among the Caribbean countries and the rest of Latin America.
