Red Frog, on the Eastern side of Islas Bastimentos, facing the Caribbean, owes its name to the little red frogs that inhabit the areas around the beach. Most of the tourists looking to explore it and visit the nearby islands take a taxi boat ride from the town of Bocas del Toro. Exotic animals, including mammals, reptiles and birds, mingle with the abundant vegetation in order to compose a unique ecosystem that makes Red Frog a distinct destination when compared to other beach destinations.
