In the Old Town you will find a group of colonial style churches, which were moved from the original city in the beginning of 1673. Enjoy the religious architecture of these historic centers such as: Church of Nuestra Señora de Las Mercedes, Church of San José, San Felipe de Neri, the Company of Jesus, and Church of San Francisco de Asís with its exquisite restoration, and don’t forget the Convent and Church of Santo Domingo and the special Church of the Metropolitan Cathedral.
To visit the colonial churches, we recommend to contact some tour operator, tourist taxi located in the City hotels, yellow taxis or use the Metro line 1 (Arrive to the station 5 de Mayo, walk towards the market of the shellfish, from this place these to 5 minutes of the old town, place where the church San Jose is located) and finally the system of Metro Bus (use routes that lead to the Maranon station or May 5)
* From the polyclinic of the C.S.S. in the Marañón you can board an electric mobility bus to the old town.
We recommend visiting all year round, especially during Easter.
